Who we are
Ana Emdin is the founder and the director of New State Pictures. Ana focuses is on discovering and developing projects at the NSP. She has secured options for highly-desired titles that went on the Booker Prize longlist and won Yale's Windham-Campbell Prize.
Before founding New State, Ana served as a development producer at Tibor Jones, a literary and screen development company, where she led adaptations across a major YA catalogue and a 52-book estate by an international bestselling author.
Ana began her career on set, working her way up through the ranks of commercial and branded content production. Originally from Latvia and now based in the London, she brings a global perspective to every project she leads.
Yan Fisher-Romanovsky is an independent film producer working across international co-productions and film and television projects with global reach.
He began his career in documentary filmmaking before moving into feature films, producing The Perfect Witness, starring Wes Bentley, and MGM’s Pathology. In 2010, he co-founded the LA- and Barcelona-based production company FISHCORB Films, where he remained until the end of 2025. During that period, the company produced titles including Ben-Hur, Seve, and Lies in Plain Sight, and was active in the Spanish distribution market.
His producing credits include Papillon, Let It Snow, Waiting for Dalí. His most recent project, the sci-fi thriller AMI, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Diane Kruger, is currently in post-production.
Following AMI, he launched the Los Angeles–based production company Invisible String Films and partnered with UK producer Ana Emdin and her company, New State Pictures, on internationally focused film and television projects.
Yan is a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the European Film Academy.
